Collier - Snooker Referee
Can
you tell me a little about yourself and how you started refereeing?
I
am a 34 year old very proud Welshman. I started playing snooker
when I was 13 and a local Snooker coach I went to for advice told
me that learning the rules was part of becoming a better player.
He was a qualified referee also and talked me in to taking my
referee's exam. I passed my exam at the age of 16 and progressed
from there. I refereed at amateur level all around Wales until
I was 20 and then became a part-time professional referee.
I
am an amateur player of a decent standard and have recently played
for Newport in the Wales Town Team Championship...View

Can you tell me about where you first started to play and what
made you take up cue sports?
I started playing regularly when I was 11 when my dad made me
a 5ft X 3ft table from some spare wood and some ripped cloth which
a table manufacture could not use. We set it up outside and had
a variety of balls and sizes. I suppose I started playing as I
saw Pot Black and enjoyed to play, I continued to play more when
I stopped playing Australian Rules football after breaking my
collarbone around 16 years old...View

DR Dave G Alciatore
Can you tell me a little about your background and what
interests you in pool?
I
grew up playing pool (misspent youth) and played a lot in college
(stress relief and fun). I got more serious about pool about 10
years ago when I starting reading every book I could find on the
subject. Being in a pool league in the Washington DC area also
peaked my interest. There were many great players (and serious
gamblers) in that league, and I learned many things from them.
One thing I learned is that many players (even good ones) often
don't truly understand how to plan and execute shots....View
