I met Jody some seasons ago
when I use to play out of Brownstone Billiards. His
technique wasn't all that great but his attitude towards
the game and people for that matter was and still
is very outstanding. Over the seasons that followed
he would go on to develop into one of the smartest
and strongest sixes in the Brooklyn Queens APA league.
This pass summer of 2008, Jody helped his former team
(The Warriors)
advance to the National Team
Championships in Las Vegas, an event sought after
by all APA teams.
He has on countless occasions gotten complements from
opponents and friends alike and has even been compared
at times to hall of fame pro Cisero Murphy.
While he might not be a pro, everything Jody projects
seems and looks professional. Whether he's at the
table or not he always finds a way to show excellent
sportsmanship. It was for that reason that I had agreed,
for the first time, to play on one of his teams. A
team that did not win but emerged with the sportsmanship
title for that entire season.
He is a wonderful person and a very unique competitor
who seem to have the ability to project at times,
SHADES OF GREATNESS.

THE8KNIGHTS
LIVE IT UP IN VEGAS AT THE NATIONAL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
2008
The
trip to the Nationals in Las Vegas was a blast. The
team went all out to have a good time. We made sure
that this would be a moment that none of our fellow
members could or would not ever want to forget.
Some of our best moments included competing, hanging
out and dining together.
As the captain I felt honored to have had the opportunity
to share that journey with such a great group of guys
and gal. I along with the new knights look forward
to duplicating this feat in the coming future.
The8knights marched into Vegas with what seem to have
been a presence. A presence of determination and the
will to go as far as they possibly could.
For the first round of play, the team came out blazing.
They would go on to win against their next three opponents
in striking fashion. In every match played, T8k closed
it out within four match ups. When they weren't winning
at the table, T8k showed why they are currently considered
one of the most unique teams in the APA, emulating
good sportsmanship and networking with other teams.
When it was all over, they had accomplished less than
they'd hoped but more than imagined. T8k finished
at 33rd out of 357 teams, the best record for a nine
ball squad coming out of NY in 2008.
